ESGmark® series for The Business Magazine
ESGmark® series for The Business Magazine
1st November 2021
Towards the end of the summer, we were invited to contribute a series of three articles to The Business Magazine. The Business Magazine is the leading B2B events and publishing house in the South East - with a monthly readership of almost 43,000 company directors and business leaders. 14,500 unique visitors see regularly-updated business news coverage on their website, while a further 4,500 subscribe to the weekly newsletter.
Environmental, Social and Governance policies are a growing topic for their readership, but not one that they have covered extensively in the past. We were thrilled with the opportunity to introduce ESG to a new audience and answer some of the more pressing questions in this notoriously complex area. Below is a summary of our three articles.
How to balance ESG with P&L Public expectation for how the corporate world interacts with the environment and society has evolved from damage limitation, to positive contribution. For our first article we outlined how a company can effectively embed an ESG-focused mentality across all levels of the company, and how to empower teams to look at both profitability and positive impact.
ESG performance: a practical playbook - ESG considerations should touch every point of the supply chain, production line and customer service. There is no cherry picking as to what counts as ESG applicable and what doesn’t. There is also a responsibility to ask questions - without knowing where your products and services are coming from, how they are made and in what conditions, it is impossible for an organisation to validate their sustainability claims.
We explore how ESG strategy can and should be integrated into your day to day business making decisions.
How an ESG-orientated strategy can become a competitive advantage Environmental, social, and governance policies have become a critical competitive advantage. In an increasingly environmentally and socially-aware business context, management boards must concentrate on decision-making for the medium and long term, focusing on value creation for all stakeholders rather than quarterly returns.
We unpick how talent retention, access to capital, reputational issues, compliance and immediate profitability gains are all directly impacted by your developing ESG policies.
All three articles are designed to help companies take the long view when it comes to ESG and to ensure ESG policies are integrated into all levels and departments of a business.
